All exercises are pointless…

This post is dedicated to all the well-meaning posts, videos, and even therapists out there who show you a good exercise but don't watch or correct how you do them. You see, all exercises are pointless - even the ones I give you to do...

...if you don't do them with focus.

There are a number of reasons for this.

1. Specificity of training.

Basically, if you do an exercise or stretch in a poor position or incorrect technique, you are simply training your body how to do something incorrectly. Be specific in how you do your exercise. Remember that you are training brain maps and grooving your coordination!

2. Solving problems
If to have an injury or pain or performance plateau, doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result is insanity! Focus on how you are doing the exercise so you can refine your technique. Actually ask and do what the coach tells you to do. Now is the time to drop some weights on the bar and get that technique better.

3. Performance improves with ideal technique.
If you bleed off energy with segments flexing or moving, you are robbing yourself of potential gains. Drop the weight a little and focus on the technique 🙂

Summary
If you want to do any mobility drill, stretch or exercise, make sure you focus - have someone teach you how to do the exercise properly. Keep doing your exercise with purpose and your mechanics and performance will improve!!
